Definitions

Acupressure
a traditional Chinese medicine technique based on the same ideas as acupuncture. Acupressure involves placing physical pressure by hand, elbow or various devices on different acupuncture points on the surface of the body.

Affirmation of Love Ceremony
a ceremony for those who do not have the opportunity or the desire for a state sanctioned marriage; a contract that binds two lives together, and the couple agrees to share one another's life materially, physically and/or spiritually. This is a personal commitment between two people, not registered anywhere. The couple take the vow in the presence of a minister and a witness, who both sign the certificate. This is not a legally binding union. All affirmation ceremonies may be customized to suit.

Aromatherapy
massage of the body and especially of the face with a preparation of fragrant essential oils extracted from herbs, flowers, and fruits from plants with purported healing properties. These potent oils are mixed with a carrier (usually soybean or almond oil) or the oils are diluted with alcohol or water and rubbed on the skin, sprayed in the air, inhaled or applied as a compress. The aroma of these oils directly stimulates the brain where they can affect the whole body and promote healing.

Baby Naming Ceremony
the event at which an infant is given a name or names. They can occur anywhere from mere days after birth to several months afterwards. Some of these ceremonies have religious or cultural siginifcance, therefore, any personal prayers, symbols, instruments, incense, or other paraphernalia you desire may be used in the ceremony. All naming ceremonies may be customized to suit.

Commitment Ceremony

Crystal Therapy
the application of crystals or gemstones to facilitate balance and healing. Crystals and gemstones house spiritual and healing properties that can be tapped into in a variety of ways. The crystals can be carried or worn on the person, or they can be placed in a location where their healing vibrations can be felt by whomever is nearby. Crystal elixirs can be made by soaking crystals for a few hours in a glass of water.

EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique)
an emotional version of acupuncture without needles. You stimulate well-established energy meridian points on your body by tapping on them with your fingertips. The process is easy to memorize and is portable so you can do it anywhere, and you can try it on everything.

Gallbladder Flush / Liver Cleanse
a cleansing of the gallbladder and liver of what are commonly called gallstones. Gallstones are crystalline bodies formed within the body, usually in the gallbladder and liver, by accretion or concretion of normal or abnormal bile components. The flush/cleanse will remove gallstones and relieve the pain associated with an overabundance of stones in the gallbladder. May also prevent the need for gallbladder surgery (removal of the gallbladder).

Handfasting
a betrothal or wedding ritual in which the couple's clasped hands are tied together by a cord or ribbon as was the tradition of old. The tying of the hands may be done by the officiant of the ceremony, by the wedding guests, or by the couple themselves. The marriage vows taken may be for "a year and a day," a lifetime, "for all of eternity" or "for as long as love shall last." Whether the ceremony is legal, or a private spiritual commitment, is up to the couple - a marriage license is required for legality in most states. All handfasting ceremonies may be customized to suit.

Holodynamics
the application of quantum physics, developmental psychology, information theory, holographics, and other modern sciences to the understanding of consciousness and the unfolding of life potential. The basic tenant of Holodynamics is that every problem is caused by its solution - we created the challenges we face so we can unfold the potential solutions and our own potential.

House Blessing
a ceremony performed to cleanse the house of past memories and energies and bless the space and its contents (both animate and inanimate) with Divine Spirit for protection, prosperity and love. Any personal prayers, symbols, instruments, incense, or other paraphernalia you desire may be used in the ceremony. All house blessing ceremonies may be customized to suit.

Hot Stone Therapy
a form of bodywork that involves the application of heated or cooled stones (thermotherapy) to the body during deep tissue massage.

Huna Massage
Huna massage, or Lomi Lomi, is the application of long, deep pressure strokes and movements rather than pointed, isolated pressure as in other forms of massage, using forearms, elbows, and hands combining lymphatic draining, soft and deep tissue massage, and energy balancing to form a very dynamic and transformational bodywork. Some state that it feels like ocean waves massaging the body.

Hypnotherapy/Hypnosis
the induction of trance states used to address one’s subconscious mind, enlisting the power of the imagination, and the practice may utilize a wide range of techniques from story telling, metaphor or symbolism to the use of direct suggestions for empowerment and beneficial change, including reducing stress (relaxation) and inducing healing. Life Coaching
a practice with the stated aim of helping clients determine and achieve personal goals. Life coaches use multiple methods that may help clients with the process of setting and reaching goals. Coaching is not targeted at psychological illness.

Magnet Therapy
magnetic fields are administered by application of magnets to certain parts of the body. Magnet therapy has been promoted to treat arthritis, circulatory disorders, diabetic neuropathy (nerve disease), fibromyalgia, inflammation, insomnia, muscle pain, neuropathy, general pain, sciatica, stress and to increase energy and prolong life. Also known as biomagnetic therapy or electromagnetic field therapy. Body magnets are contraindicated in people having radiology, an MRI or wearing a cardiac pacemaker.

Marriage Renewal Ceremony
a popular ceremony with those who may have eloped or only had a small wedding ceremony, as well as those who just want to tell the world how much their love has grown. It is an especially memorable service for relatives, friends, and the loving couple. For certification, you will need your original marriage license. All marriage renewal ceremonies may be customized to suit.

Meditation
a discipline in which the mind is focused on an object of thought or awareness, and the aim is to clear the mind and come to silence. It is meant to engender a higher state of consciousness. Meditation is recognized as a component of almost all religions. Meditative disciplines encompass a wide range of spiritual and/or psychophysical practices which can emphasize development of a high degree of mental concentration. In time, one may find that all things can be a practice in meditation.

Polarity Massage
is based on the belief that positive and negative poles exist in every cell within our bodies. Your energy will either be positive, negative or neutral. The goal of this therapy is to bring balance to your internal energy so that it remains in a neutral state. This is achieved through gentle massage that directs the patient’s own energy to the proper places within the body.

Pressure Point Therapy
similar to acupressure in most ways, and different in that this system also uses techniques to run energy through the meridians of the body (avenues of energy) to remove energetic blocks.

Reiki
Japanese for Universal Life Force, or the energy inherent to all creation, Reiki is an energy healing therapy that treats the whole person – emotionally, physically and spiritually – through the transmission of universal life energy to balance and strengthen the body’s energy centers, or Chakras, based on ancient eastern techniques. The profoundly relaxing effects associated with Reiki make it an effective treatment for anxiety, stress, and the management of difficult emotions and addictions. As there are no contraindications, it complements any other form of medical treatment.

Reiki Attunements
being attuned to the symbols of the Usui Reiki System enables the practitioner to utilize those symbols to perform Reiki Treatments on self and others. There are 3 levels of attunements - the first 2 certify a Reiki Practitioner and the last level certifies a Reiki Master. Spiritual Counseling
a therapeutic process by which one returns to the latent understanding of one's connection with the Source of All, the Divine, God, or any of the many other names for Source Energy. The processes used are similar to general counseling, such as communication of conflicts and insight into problems with the goal being relief of symptoms, changes in behavior leading to improved social and vocational functioning, and personality growth.

Swedish Massage
the most popular type of massage in the United States, the principle of which is to apply deep pressures and concentrate on inner muscles. It involves the use of hands, forearms and/or elbows to manipulate the superficial layers of the muscles to improve mental and physical health. Active or passive movement of the joints may also be part of the massage. The benefits of Swedish massage include increased blood circulation, mental and physical relaxation, decreased stress and muscle tension, and improved range of motion.

Trigger-Point Therapy
a bodywork technique that involves the application of pressure to tender muscle tissue in order to relieve pain and dysfunction in other parts of the body.

Wedding
a ceremony that celebrates the beginning of a marriage or civil union. Wedding traditions and customs vary greatly between cultures, ethnic groups, religions, countries, and social classes. In most states, the legal act of marriage occurs at the time of signing a marriage license or other legal document, and the wedding is then an opportunity to perform a traditional ceremony and celebrate with friends and family. All wedding ceremonies may be customized to suit.

Wellness Counseling
if sickness is caused by habitual practices, then wellness can be attained by recognizing those practices and exchanging them for new, healthier ones. There is a need for wellness counseling with any form of disease, including those we term hereditary. We practice from the tenet that predispositions that have manifested have done so from a belief that they would and the negative thoughts and emotions that encouraged them.
